Samsara Woodcraft is a small family-run business based in North Canterbury, New Zealand. We create a range of thoughtfully designed woodcraft products, with a strong focus on custom wooden signs for homes, properties and gifts. Alongside our sign range, we also make a selection of complementary items including jewellery, wall art, bookmarks, and more. Most of our outdoor wooden signs are made using Macrocarpa timber, chosen for its warm colour, distinctive grain and suitability for outdoor use.

How Our Wooden Signs Are Made

Every sign we create is designed and crafted here in Canterbury, New Zealand. We begin by designing each sign layout, carefully considering spacing, balance and readability to suit the timber and size selected. The text and designs are then CNC or laser engraved into the wood for crisp, consistent detail. Each sign is sanded, and oiled with a extensive oiling process allowing us to bring out the natural character of the timber and ensure a high-quality result that will last. While we use modern tools as part of the process, every sign is individually made, checked and finished lovingly by hand. This combination of thoughtful design, precision engraving and hands-on finishing allows us to create wooden signs that are both personal and long-lasting.

Our Workshop & Location

We are based in Loburn, just north of Rangiora in Canterbury. You can also find us most Saturday mornings at the Amberley Craft Market (9:00am–12:30pm), a friendly local market with a great mix of crafts and makers. Feel free to pop by and have a chat — you never know what other treasures you might discover. While we’re located in Canterbury, we ship our products throughout New Zealand.
